Las Fronteras Pilgrimage

Applications due December 13th 2019

The program will begin with an organizational meeting in January, and will include several site visits around the diocese to see Faith in Action. At each site, participants will explore issues of security and hospitality, stranger and neighbor, privilege and disadvantage, discipleship and servant leadership, all while participating in community service projects across eastern Massachusetts and developing a community of faith and support among themselves. The program will culminate in the group’s pilgrimage to the US/Mexico borderlands in August 2020.

Las Posadas / Searching for Shelter

Join Bishop Gayle Harris and the people of St. Luke’s-San Lucas in Chelsea for Las Posadas, a traditional Advent celebration in which those gathered will trace Mary and Joseph’s traveling search for shelter – a bilingual celebration with processions, prayer of Novenas, music, food and hospitality. As the group celebrates this wellknown story from the Christian tradition, it will hold close in heart and mind the serious plight of modern-day refugees struggling to find shelter today.

2020 Preconfirmation Retreat #1

Barbara C. Harris Camp

PreConfirmation retreats are a chance for young people of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts to meet other young people discerning their call to Confirmation, or even just the faith journey in general! The retreats do not try to sum up a year’s worth of classes in one overnight, but we do try to give all who come a feeling for how making a commitment to one’s faith can be lived out not only in church, but in every part of our day.

The retreats are led by the members of the Diocesan Youth Council, 10th-12th graders who see part of their leadership and ministry as welcoming all the youth attending retreats, leading small groups, and giving reflections on their own spiritual journeys. They look forward to getting to know all participants!

Every three years, The Episcopal Church young people from across the denomination come together for an international gathering of worship, workshops, exploration, and fun.  The 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20) will be held in partnership with the Washington National Cathedral and the Episcopal Diocese of Washington on the campus of Howard University July 7-11, 2020.  Young people attend as part of the diocesan delegation.  Look for more information on registration this fall.  And if you want to be sure you don’t miss out, contact our Youth Missioner H. Mark Smith and he will be sure you are “on the list.”

Are you a young adult or adult (at least 19 years of age or older) who would love to support the ministry and work of the 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20)? Volunteer to serve as Dorm Crew, Event Team, or Medical Care Team. The application is available here and will be open until October 20th, 2019.
