We are committed to working with – and supporting – the Peace Appeal Foundation because we believe that it is the best advocate for protecting and nurturing children during outbreaks of horrendous violence. It is our goal to focus now on Sri Lanka which has extraordinarily disturbing statistics on child rape, children in commercial exploitation, child soldiers, and orphaned children, and one of the highest suicide rates in the world among children.  Specifically, we seek to:

• Encourage parishes, families, and youth to adopt / sponsor / support orphanages in Sri Lanka;

• Encourage parishes, families, and youth to exchange gifts and letters with the children in the orphanages;

• Put together mission trips to orphanages in Sri Lanka so that we can see, first-hand, what is happening and reach out to these children in extreme need.  Their need for help is colossal and immediate!  We must help now!
